Ginga Densetsu Weed

Ginga Densetsu Weed (Silver Fang Weed) is an excellent anime with no english translation. So, no dub, just subs.
It's a little hard to find, but Youtube's got it sometimes. But very popular nonetheless.
I was surprised at how good this was! It's an anime about dogs, specifically a little blue akita named Weed, who is accompanied by GB. Weed is son of Gin, the Leader of Paradise, which is where dogs are safe and where the pack is. Quite a few episodes are dedicated to finding Paradise. On a side note, there is a series before Weed about Gin, but Weed is much better and you can still understand the series without seeing Gin's series.
The way the mouths move with speech should make no sense- it doesn't always match or even move with every word, but shockingly, watching it, it seems to make perfect sense. Ginga Densetsu Weed is fantastic, and I highly reccomend it.
I give itfour out of five stars.

Chrno Crusade

Chrno Crusade!
AKA, Nuns With Guns.
If you look at the image to the left, you'll see a girl holding a particularly large gun. Yes, that is a NUN. I kid you not.
The series is spectacularly done, with incredible graphics, fantastic plot, and rich characters that are as far away from flat as Mount Everest.
It goes by several names, depending on where you watch it. I highly recommend watching it in the original japanese, as the english translation is so awful that I turned my computer off and left the room. But if you watch it in english, it's Chrono Crusade. The 'Chrono', as it 'time,' is completely coincidental. Though our fabulous demon-boy Chrno/Chrono does have limited time-freezing power stored in his lost horns (which is how a demon ended up at a monestary as an excorsist FIGHTING other demons), it means nothing of the sort in Japanese, and other characters with time-powers do not have names that corolate with those powers. In Japanese, it's Chrno Crusade, without the first 'o', or if you get very literal in the translations, 'Chrno's Crusades.'
This outstanding series is about Rossette Christopher, an Excorcist working at the Magdalene Monestary, trying to find her brother Joshua who was taken by a demon four years previous. Her and Chrno (who is also friends with Joshua.) are trying to find him on their demon-killing escapades, and having little luck. Chrno is a mild-mannered demon who's lost his horns, without which, he would normally die. But, against his will, he made a contract with his good friend Rossette when she was still just a girl, that took her lifeforce rather than a Demon's natural energy source: astral. Every moment he lives he takes from her, though she does not regret it. Chrno, on the other hand, does.
I, personally, was hooked on this anime within the very first five minutes. It's a tad bit religious, but my Atheistic friend was still able to enjoy it. So long as you don't get super-into it, you should be good. I give Chrno Crusade Five Stars.

A new challenger comes!!!

I would like to introduce the first contributor to Neo 9i that is not me, Draikinator! She will be doing all of our anime stuff on the site and do some game stuff every so often. She will also be doing some art for the site. SAY HI!

Savy Signs On

Yo! I'm Savannah, and I've been recruited in to Neo 9i the resident anime expert! (and Kingdom Hearts, but that's a little irrelevent.) (also, I did notice Actblazer's post on me joining... but... I couldn't help myself. >D)
I'll post up reviews like Actblazer over there, except instead of video games, I'll have up anime reviews. And you really need to trust me when I say that I know anime. Here in wilmington we have two anime experts: Me, and Michal Wisniowski who hosts Aniwav. And I'm the only person who's gone to them ALL. >D

Review: Samba De Amigo Wii

When I heard that this game was coming to Wii, I was so excited. I missed it the first time around so this would finally be my chance to experience what more fortunate Dreamcast owners have experiencing all these years.
Samba De Amigo is a very unique rhythm game, and what I mean by unique is the way you play. You still try to hit notes in time with the music, but instead of pressing buttons, you use marracas to shake along with the music! Or in this case, Wii remotes. The song list is exactly what you would expect from a game like this. You get a lot of Latin American music which I really liked. The presentation and atmosphere of the game is the thing I loved the most about Samba De Amigo. The characters in the background along with the scenery and music are such a joy to watch. They look like they're having the time of their lives, just dancing, hopping around, and smiling like theres no tomorrow. The gameplay however can be hit and miss depending on how you're going into the game. Before I played the game, I looked at other reviews from Nintendo Power, IGN, and 1up. Nintendo Power gave this game a 9 out of 10, while IGN and 1up gave a 7.0 or a C. The latter 2 reviews mentioned the controls and how they're basically broken, but functional. So I started playing the game with the controls in mind, and I had a blast! Though on the higher difficulty levels, the game has trouble recognizing shakes because of how fast you need to shake the controllers.
In closing, Samba De Amigo is a very fun Wii party game, and most likely an excellent Dreamcast game. The controls can get in the way sometimes. So if you're cautious about them, like I was, I would give it a rent first. If its your thing, then go pick it up. One thing to remember though is to adjust your expectations acordingly, like me. Because if you go into this game (the Wii version that is) as the greatest rhythm game ever on Wii, like Nintendo Power wants you to think, you will be disappointed.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hope you all are having a great Thanksgiving and pissing off PETA by eating turkey. Since this is the season to be thankful for something, I have decided that im thankful for what I have. So.... today I played my Dreamcast for the first time in a year or so. Turns out this led me to ignore the family more, but it also led to some sibling rivalries in games of NFL Blitz and a few rounds of HORSE in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (1). Post in the comments some stuff that you're thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving!

Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals!

Cooking Mama, The Unauthorized PETA Edition: Mama Kills Animals
I saw this game causing some buzz on the internet lately. PETA (cant tell u wat it means) has made their own Cooking Mama game where they take a more cruel approach to cooking. After playing it through, it was pretty fun and it really proves its point by having u watch videos in between your cooking massacre about the inhumane treatment of turkeys. But who cares, im still eating turkey on Thanksgiving. You should still play this game though. Near the end, theres a plot twist. OH SNAP!

Game Boy Micros on Ebay

Over the last few days, I have been on ebay looking at Game Boy Micros with some surprising finds.I have been finding GBMs at auctions for as little as $34! Some even come with games, but some dont come with any chargers. The bright side though is that you can buy a charger for like $1. So if you've ever wanted a Game Boy Micro, now is the best time to go find one. Im trying to find one just for the sake of owning every Nintendo handheld. If anyone can find a better deal, please post it in the comments.

Cucalorus 14

On Thursday, I got the chance to go check out The Cucalorus Festival. Cucalorus is an annual film festival in Wilmington, NC and they had a lot of very odd and original short films. I got to see 5 different short films, but I wanted to mention 3 of them that I thought were really good and most importantly, different.
1. Ichthyopolis
Its hard for me to explain this one, so i'll have the Cucalorus book do the talking...
"A 10-minute psychedilic technomation from a local filmmaker delves into a mythical cosmology of fish and their human caretakers."
......yeah
2. Don't See Listen
This is a documentary about an improv band call Invisible. They are mainly known for making very unique inventions like a typewriter piano and a pinwheel drum machine. I really liked there sound and style while I was watching the film.
3. Felix
Felix was easily my favorite film out of the 5 shown. It tells the story of a 10 year old German boy who meets a deaf girl online. He tells the girl that he is also deaf and so he learns sign language so he could meet her in public. She eventually finds out that he is not really deaf though. In the end they do fix things up and become good friends. The film was excellent and I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to go watch it!
